I need to replace the bottom case on a 1525. I have the service manual but would like to know if there are any shortcuts to taking apart the laptop. I know I need to remove the LCD but not sure where to start with the base and how many components I need to remove in order to replace the base.

Follow the service manual... there aren't any shortcuts; you pretty much have to out everything to replace the bottom chassis piece.

Go to support.dell.com and punch in your service tag, and it will give you the service manual.

Unless it is absolutely necessary, that should be the last option. The entire motherboard has to be swapped, everything disconnected, it is a real pain replacing the bottom casing.
