My 1520 has started making a very annoying high-pitched sound. I put my ear to the fan and am fairly certain that is not the source. I also pulled out the ram that is under the vent and it still makes the sound. It is not very consistent either. It's almost unbearable, anyone have any idea what I can do?

it's the whining noise that a lot of people have been talking about. RMclock works with the right settings (search around, youll find instructions) but in truth, after a little while I pretty much got used to it.

I have the same thing in my XPS M1710, it's coming from somewhere on the left side of the cabinet.. 'behind' the speaker. It's not there when I am scrolling in a window. ..sounds like high pitched morse code, with long and short beeps.

    ..really annoying!

I dont hear this at all in my 1520, except through the audio jack with headphones. Then I hear it.

..seems this is well documented throughout the net. Like the other guy said, it's normally called "CPU Whine" and is a common problem it seems.
