I received my 1520 last friday morning and by saturday night, it was bricked. I was just running some IM programs when all of a sudden i got a blue screen of death. after the bsod restarted my 1520, it failed to boot and since then will not boot. when i do turn it on, the hd spins and so does the dvdrom, but the lcd doesn't turn on. the hd spins only for the first 2 seconds or so, then does nothing. tried going directly into bios, but don't know if that worked or not since the lcd won't turn on. any ideas?

I would call Dell ... don't see much you can do if the display won't turn on.

Your description sounds a lot like a problem I recently had with a desktop - a RAM stick went bad. I doubt your memory is bad, but may need to be reseated.

I had the same problem when I recieved my 1520. After day two, got a blue screen and then it wouldn't boot up. When I pressed the power button, the fans and HD would spin for a second and then my caps lock would flash for a while. Called Dell and they sent me two new sticks of RAM to put in it. Works wonderfully now! Good luck!

thanks a lot for the responses. the dell tech actually made me take out 1 ram stick on the bottom and try to boot the laptop, but it wouldn't work. haven't even tried to remove the other stick but i'll definitely try it out even though my replacement is supposed to be arriving today. i'm kind of scared of getting one of those grainy screens like some people in my replacement. the screen on my original 1520 was perfect. anyway, i'll definitely try removing the other ram stick. thanks.
