Okay this is a relatively new issue for me in the past month. While playing, games will freeze for about 3 seconds and performance will significantly drop from then on until I restart my computer. Yesterday while playing World in Conflict this problem was even more serious, the game froze and I saw artifacts all over the screen for a few seconds and then the performance dropped. This problem happens with different drivers and all games.

Avg. Temperature is about 58 celsius with regular computing and peaks at about 83-90 Celsius in games.

Try cleaning your fans out. Should reduce heat.

Okay this all started after I had my palm rest replaced. I noticed the little metal heatsink or whatever it is in left vent is crooked and that my DVD-Drive moves very easily when I eject the disk tray? Should it be this way or did the tech mess something up. Oh and sometimes when I change disks my disk drive disappears until I restart!

If the heatsink is crooked that means both the sink and the thermal paste are screwed up. That would definitely cause your issues.

it is definately the thermal paste not working. when i opened mine, it was totally dried up and hard a rock. applied high performance paste, OC to 650MHz. peak at only 67C on full load.

Blow out the vents on the side there and the fan on the bottom with compressed air. If that does not fix it contact dell for a repair again.

My Dell is taking a vacation back to the Dell Depot for the 3rd time. Nice!
