    1520 shipping delays as of 8/1

    From the website...placing an order for a new 1520 (Jet Black) has an initial shipping date of 8/17. Here are the shipping dates when adding the following:

    Alpine White: 8/20
    Espresso Brown: 8/23
    Ruby Red: 8/27
    Midnight Blue: 8/27
    Spring Green: 8/30
    Flamingo Pink: 8/30
    Sunshine Yellow: 8/30

    None of the displays subject the order to a delay, nor do the processors. For that matter, no parts on the order page delay the laptop except for the colors (other than Jet Black), and *surprise* the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 (which I've not seen on anyone's order. Most of us have the 8600M GT from what I can tell). If any graphics option aside from the Intel GMA is selected, the ship date is changed from 8/17 to 8/15 for Jet Black systems, but all other color's ship dates remain the same.

    Thought some might find this post interesting as we all seem to hear differently from the reps.

    The lady I talked with said that cancelling and re-ordering with black will not get my laptop faster :( (I don't really care what color, I just need the laptop).

    I ordered the following config on 7/27 and got an ESD of 8/15. I was getting disappointed by all the talk of delays here, but lo and behold, I just checked my order status and it says it shipped today! The 3-5 day shipping is expected to have it delivered by 8/6 - 8/8. I'm glad I was cheap enough to go with black, heh. Good luck to everyone else!

    The X3100 is what I ordered, along with midnight blue and the T7300 processor. All three had delays. I am guessing the fact that they aren't showing delays means that Dell expects to have plenty of the parts needed within the next week, or so. Hoping my ship date of 08/03 stays...still in build stage...
