Seeking any advice or feedback regarding these 2 computers. My main concern is what computer is best for gaming and also regarding screens.

For my budget for the 1520. all 3 different screen types they are offering is fine but i have picked atm the "15.4 inch UltraSharp ™ Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with TrueLife™". I have read that the 15.4 inch Wide Screen WXGA LCD Display is a good choice as well.

Now for the 1720 I have built the same computer for the same price as the 1520 but with the screen being "17.0 inch Wide Screen XGA+ Display". (Plus the 1720 for the same price gets 40 more gigs of harddrive) Unfortunately the "High Resolution, glossy widescreen 17.0 inch display (1920 x 1200)" is not in my budget, so I will not be getting that.

    Both of these computers have:
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7300 (4MB cache/2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB), English
2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 2 Dimm
    256MB NVIDIA ®GeForce™8600M GT

So all in all, I would like to know what screen size and screen option would be best for gaming mostly. Thanks.

I have an 17'' wsxga+ and it's good for gaming, but it is worse for portability, the wxga+ is a good resolution for this size of screen, I have an 19'' widescreen monitor at work and it has the same resolution. I suggest you looking some real notebooks with this size and choose what you like most, but if it's going to be your only computer and you don't carry it much to get the 17'' (although I carry mine a lot)

I agree. From a pure gaming perspective the 17" is the better choice. Also if you don't know already there are some coupons right here on NBR for those models for up to $300 off. Here's the link:

    Hope this helps!

Thanks, so what would be the better choice then for a 17" screen, since they offer 2 choices for the same price.

Glossy, high contrast, widescreen 17.0 inch display (1440 x 900)
    OR
17.0 inch Wide Screen XGA+ Display

@shoelace - thanks for the coupon but I live in Canada..
