No, even if the table is really small, you can always use it on your lap. Even though the 1520 is relatively cool, put the bag you are carrying it on between the laptop and your legs, just in case it does heat up. The only difficulty you will find is if making a trip the restroom - having extra items in coach doesn't really help.

Be prepared to have your laptop examined by someone before boarding, so be sure to hide those emabarrassing pictures - if any :p

I'm not big on the size of airliners seats, but the 15" laptop is only a little bit wider than most peoples laps. Unless your crammed between two fairly large people, you'll have space for it.

they dont actually switch it on or check what's stored on the hard drive! Well not in the UK at least....all they do is tell you to remove it from its case, put it into a tray, then send it through the x-ray machine...

Since you already have the laptop, you have no choice. If you put it in your lap, it'll be OK. I saw many people using 15" on airplane. I brought my old Sony 14" wide screen on my trip before and I had problem when putting it on my food tray and the front seat reclined back. I had to pull my laptop all the way to my chest in order to view the screen. I'm kind of small size person so I told myself to buy only 14" laptop for travel.
