Title says it all, has anyone gotten that annoying sound when using headphones with the 1520 fixed?
Mine has it and it annoys the heck out of me.

When did you receive yours? I was hoping this 5-week delay would allow time for that problem to be ironed out but I don't have my hopes up. After harassing dell CSR about all these delay issues, I'd hate to do it all over again for the headphone jack noise.

I just received mine, and yeah I can definitely hear the jack noise in the background when nothing is playing. Whenever I use my headphones though I just turn on music or something and you don't hear it anymore, and I found out that by plugging the headphones into my Logitech z-2300 remote I get no sound either while still keeping good sound quality.

yeah I have it but found out using a USB supported head set fixes the problem. I can't believe dell released this laptop with such a defect. also grainy screen is "grainy" by some other laptop's standards I'll admit but thats only if your looking and also a very a dicerning laptop user. 8600 GT is a deal in itself for this price (I think anyway)

What u hear is ior hard drive....
I have this laptop with the 120 gig 7200rpm and yes the noise is there...
I dont know if this can be solved easy as long as ior sound is so near the HDD. It would require good screaning from the static produced by the HDD.
Yes that a good idea to use usb compatible sound cuz ior far away from hdd now if u plug in the usb port....

For crying out loud, use a spell checker. I can't understand half what you're saying.

And no, it isn't the hard drive.
It's power regulation, mainly to the cpu as it moves around load states. There are a number of other factors too such as poor shielding, grounding and low quality parts being used.

One thing we can all agree on, is it's ****ing irritating.

i have logitech speakers and they have a headphone jack on the volume control, i plugged my headphones into it and plugged the speakers into the laptop, now i don't hear that noise anymore, but i can hear it if i turn the speakers volume up, but if u keep that low and turn up volume in windows, it works fine.
