Okay, as you see in my Sig, today was a hectic day in Ireland :p

This morning at 6am it was in in Build, finally, but being paranoid (because parts of the homepage still said "Pre-production" and others said "Build") I called DELL twice:
The automatic answer said "Build", but the Sales Rep could only say "We can only see that the date of Aug 27th is still on", no details. However 20 minutes later it was in Boxing, and by lunch it said "Shipped" (and no weirdness on the homepage). :D
(And yes, the auto-answer says Shipped too)

Congrats on making it to shipping. I'm am starting to wonder if getting a close shipping date means you'll get delayed. I ordered a day before you (the 24th) and my ESD is 8/15, still says it on the site too. But since I'm still in the build stage, and have been ever since, I don't think I'll get my 1520 by the 15th. I hope I get lucky and get the parts I still need.

Yep, my blue one shipped out from Ireland today as well :) . Not bad considering that a few days ago the rep told me I'd have to wait until the 31st!

    This little CSR says "no".
    THIS little CSR says "maybe"!
This little CSR says "I do not have the information necessary to provide you with that right now".
THIS little CSR says "I can see that it will ship on or before Aug. 28th".
And this little CSR says "I see that your order has been cancelled. Would you like to talk to sales and place an order?"

I talked to Dell yesterday and they've expedited my build and bumped up the delivery date from 8/28 to 8/15. I think that the 8/28 date is to make sure that they have enough buffer time accounting for worst case delay. Most people are probably going to be gettin their laptops by mid Aug.

Despite the fact that it means no freebies, I really am grateful that DELL Europe seem to have had a much less optimistic and much more realistic approach to delivery dates than DELL US; as I said I ordered on Jul 25th and I got Aug 27th from the beginning.

it seems that dell is getting the systems out before the "expected" ship date, so that seems to be a good thing. I know that a few of the items that are making the shipment take so long are the high demand ones, the 1440x900 screen and the 8600gt. it is really more of a crap shoot to see if you are going to get it early...they will email you though as soon as it ships
