My 1520 is still estimated to ship on the 26th and arrive on the 27th but it is still in the build phase of production. Does that make sense to anyone or am I looking at a delay?

Don't trust the status website, it's either way behind, or way ahead.

Does the same go for over the phone checking? That is what I used.

Once it enters build phase it usually goes really quick, so I wouldn't worry too much.

I ordered mine on the twentieth and it immediately went into build phase. It's scheduled to ship the 8th of august. :(

It's been in the build phase for a long time. That isn't the first phase?

    Dont listen to them.

The build phase means nothing. My laptop has been in the build phase since 7/10/07 and was supposed to ship 7/17/07. As you can see its still in the build phase and not shipped yet.

    So Its most likely delayed.

Darn. Did you try calling? This most likely means that there is a huge backorder.

Did the estimated ship date get pushed back or did it stay the 17th? When were you notified of the delay, if you were?

hs is where I have been very upset at dell. My estimated ship date has not changed at all. the date still states the 17th of july. I was not notified of the delay at all. the website didnt change on the 18th so I called up customer service and they didnt know what was up. 2 representitives later and i was able to find out it was delayed.

My 1520 was ordered on the 8th of July and almost immediately went into the build stage. It's been there ever since. It was scheduled to ship yesterday on the 23rd but it didnt, even though the online status check still tells me it will. I was not notified of any delay but a Dell Rep I talked to told me that it was now scheduled to ship on the 30th.. however they could not tell me why it was delayed.

Pre-production is before Build Stage I believe.. Its the gathering of parts and whatnot for your Notebook.

This might not be translated correctly, but before the build phase theres the order preparation phase and the preproduction phase. Why?

Geesh! I too suffer from the same as the OP. I orderd on July 8 my 1720 and original ship was July 19. On the 19th I got a delay email pushing my ship date back to July 26th. My unit has been in the BUILD stage all this time.
They tried to give me a free printer or $75 credit earlier in the week so I figure it will not ship on the 26th and will be delayed yet again! Damn...

Still in the build phase, still estimated to ship tomorrow. I am going to want some serious compensation if it is delayed. I've been waiting a month!

If I can get like $100 for this and $100 for the vid card memory issue, maybe I could put it towards a 24" monitor. How do these credits work? Do they put it back on your credit card or is it like a gift card?

My ESD was today, but 5 minutes ago I got the dreaded email from dell:

"Although we had anticipated being able to ship your order sooner, we are experiencing an unexpected delay and have adjusted the estimated ship date (see Revised Estimated Ship Date below). Click on the Order Status bar below to view the current status of your order."

    New ESD: 8/1

That sounds about right. My replacement 1520 is rescheduled to be shipped on the 27th.

With my current 1520 semi wroking with the fix i did myself i think you will be happy with the laptop once it arrives.

Yeah, I ordered my 1520 on the 10th, estimated shipping date was today, but it has not shipped. It's been in the building stage since the 11th (although for some reason, it now says it entered the building stage on the 10th, despite it being listed as the 11th until sometime last week). My delay sense is tingling.

Have many people been successful in getting compensation?

    Could you elaborate on this?

When I call automated order status it doesn't even give me an estimated ship date :(

And oh yeah, it's still in the build stage :(

I ordered though Dell Canada's site on July 6th.

Immediately it went into Build Mode on July 6th.

Estimated Shipping Date is/was July 23rd. Nothing has been changed/updated since then.

Getting frustrated. I don't start college until September 4th, but still. I would like to get my hands on it sooner than later.

    Squeaky....
My 1520 was supposed to ship yesterday, but like everyone else's was delayed another week. I replied to the "delay notification" email from Dell asking for some sort of compensation....they replied about an hour later and offered me a $100 coupon to use in their online store. They won't issue the coupon though until after the 1520 ships. I will use it toward a laser jet or something.

It is worth a shot to ask...

I ordered an insperon 1520 on July 2 as a birthday present for my son. The original ship date was July 17. On the 17th I got a delay notice changing the ship date to July 24. On the 24 delayed to July 31. On July 31 they now say Aug 7. I have made several calls to Dell and they tell me there is an industry shortage of LCDs, and I will have to wait until Aug 7 to know if it will ship. I did get someone to upgrade my RAM for the inconvenience, but they will not ship it until after the laptop ships.

I did end up getting offered a $100 credit without too much trouble. I believe I will be getting $100 put back onto my credit card rather than a coupon.

I just checked the order phone line and they said it was in the boxing stage so with any luck it will ship this time.
