I have had a 1520 for a couple days, and I formatted it to get rid of all the junk. I installed its drivers but there is a problem when sleeping/coming back from sleep.
Sometimes when I turn it on while it is sleeping, it starts up but the screen does not turn on! This is more likely if I close the lid right after I tell it to go to sleep.
Another problem is if there is hard drive activity and I tell it to go to sleep, sometimes it gets stuck after it turns the screen black and just stays there. Press the power button does not bring it back.
    Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks!

I'm reasonably sure that the screen not coming on is a driver issue; I had the same problem on my D830 which went away after a driver update. It's probably the cause of your second issue too, but I'm not as sure.

Got the same problem... the USB mouse also sometimes doesn't "reawaken" either. Have tried several things others have suggested to no avail... I just don't let it sleep anymore. I just have it go to the screen saver after a couple of hours. At least that works...

I use the power button to put it to sleep. That works for me.

Does anyone have a clue? There is also a different problem where it is unable to shut down sometimes! It just stays on the shut down screen until you force it off.

Are you running vista? I heard of an issue in vista where a laptop doesn't properly come out of sleep.

There have been multiple posts about this, so next time search to see if it has been asked, thank you.

Now from my problems it has been a driver problem, both the drivers on Dells website and the Bioshock drivers from laptopvideo2go.com have worked fine for me for waking up, where as others I have tried do not work.

yeah I noticed that. Once I updated, the sleep function doesn't work properly anymore... :(

Is there a way to fix the problem? I would love to have the latest video driver...

    thanks

    For what it's worth :

D630 with NVIDIA 135M on LaptopVideo2Go's 101.43 - perfect sleep operation. System goes to sleep/wakes up right when you press the power button. No delay or hesitation with display going to sleep or coming back on.

    Regards,
    Paolo

hmm...just don't let it go to sleep....it's not like it really needs to, if u really think about it, unless electricity usage is of great concern and costs a lot of money, then i wouldn't even buy a laptop ... lol
