When I have my iPod connected through USB, Vista won't boot. I will never get the Vista start-up screen but instead have a flashing bar in the upper left corner. I had the same problem with my desktop PC but by installing a new BIOS version the problem was solved. Does anyone have an idea what to do with the 1520?

Why do you leave your iPod plugged in if Vista isn't even booted?

Just boot Vista first, then plug in your iPod. Am I missing something here or what?

Of course that's the easy solution, the thing is when you need a restart and had the ipod connected Vista won't boot.

Same thing happend to me with my desktop and my external harddrive. I think its because of a conflict between the Harddrive and your ipod in the Bios. When you boot your pc up it tryes to boot into your ipod/my external harddrive.

Try going into BIOS and changing the Boot sequence to boot to Harddrive first. If that dosent work, I think flashing of the Bios will solve it.

I second what he said. My friend has a Dell laptop and he went through some trouble only to find it was trying to boot his iPod video first. He had it plugged into a powered USB hub which charges it and then he only had to plug in one cable for all his USB devices. Just change the boot order.

you can probably go into the bios setup and change the order in which the computer tries to boot. If you put the computers harddrive first on the list than it should boot from the computers harddrive first and that should fix the problem

I now deleted usb drives from by boot sequence but the problem remains. I'll just have to wait for a new bios probably.

(Warning: newb question) How do you change the BIOS to make it boot from the hard drive first?

I saw this on a lot of notebooks and desktops. My guess: part of an emergency recovery procedure.

I am helping a friend with a Dell Inspirion laptop (XP) and it has the same problem. I added a powered USB hub and took USB out of the boot sequence in the bios but it still holds up the boot process. Is there anything short of reflashing the BIOS that might cure this? What is unique about an iPod that would hold up a boot process? Thanks, Tom
