    Hello,

I’d like to order 1520 for my wife and need some suggestions. What are the best options for her regarding screen and video card? She is not a gamer at all but likes to watch HD clips and other multimedia stuff on her current desktop. I don’t really like TrueLife (Glossy) screens because of the glare but all high end screen options for 1520 are TrueLife. :( What are my best options? And do I really need to order 8600 video card? She only plays games like PacMan or solitaire :)

    TIA

I think you should take your wife to a brick and morter store so she can look at some screens in person. The Dell kiosks in the malls (if you are in the states) usually have display units with the higher resolution screens (Back in the E1505 days the kiosk at near by malls both had WSXGA+ screens on display). How does she feel herself about glossy vs. Matte. That's another reason to give her a chance to see some screens in person. Is she much of a multitasker? If she likes having alot of things on screen at once and has decent eyes then she will benefit from having a high resolution screen. If she does not game, I don't see the need of the 8600. For HD Clips she might benefit from the 8400GS though.

Regarding the glossy vs mate. I do not see an option for mate screen.

No see is not really a multitasker. She is 70% web 20% photoshop esentials and 10% misc user.

My suggestion would be to go with the vostro, and use the money saved to take your wife out to a nice dinner. Same laptop, faster shipping, lower price. What's to lose? Some color choices?
