I bought a Dell Inspiron 1520 three days ago, and did the $0 upgrade to the screen which has Truelife(antiglare) on it and I notice a huge difference in screen brightness when it is on AC power(plugged in) vs. on its own battery. The screen is very dark(annoying!) on its own battery but when it is plugged in it looks amazing! How do I make it so the screen looks the same running on the battery and running when its plugged in  ?

it turns it down to save battery life. most of the battery is used to power the lcd, and more so the brighter it is. however to raise the brigtness, hold the fn key and press the up and down arrows (see the little sun pictured on them).

the fn key. it is blue and is located in between the ctrl and alt keys. any key that is blue on your keyboard, if you hold the blue fn key, while you hit that key, it will give the value of the ble on the screen. for example to use the number pad, hold the fn key and hit u for the number 4, i for the number 5 etc...

If you want the screen to be max bright as default (when running on battery), you can click right click on the battery icon in the system tray, choose Power Alternatives, and change the schedules there (names may be incorrect, since I don't have the English Vista version).

If you want max brightness as your default, go to start, type power options, hit enter, under your selected plan, hit change plan settings, then go to the left slider, and put it to the right all the way. Hit save changes and you're done.
