1520 Ruby Red Waiting Room

Who else is waiting for one? I still have no delays and have been told 3 times that It wont be delayed. But im not getting my hopes up.

Well this is really old. Ive been delayed 2 times since I wrote this.

Scratch that.... 5 times...

 

yea i'm right next to ya. phone order status says build but i've been told by the dell folks the my order is on time. *sigh*

 

Emailed this morning that mine is delayed till August 28 Told by phone this afternnon that there is a backorder of the ruby red covers.

 

:yes: Im waiting. I ordered the 31st and the ESD is Aug. 28th. I start school a week before that....... But oh well, I just hope it some how makes it through the mess before the ESD.

 

It almost seems like random orders are being shipped while those who have waited since june are getting screwed. I just hope Im one of those random lucky people.

I wonder if they make the computers on weekends too...I would think.

 

After reading these posts, I was getting freaked out. The waiting times, 3-4 weeks and some even more than a month. Well, somebodey must like me up there. Online ordered July 24th, made a quick change from Blue to Red finish and larger hard drive. Checked the status and it's been shipped! It's at the Purolator sorting plant in Toronto and it'll be here Monday the 13th, right on time!

Thanks! I noticed that our order and est. ship dates were close, I was looking to see if anyone was around the same time. It's just seems weird how some can get them in 2 weeks and others get them in 4 or more? Luck of the draw I guess!

still waiting for my ruby red as well. two backordered parts on my laptop.

 

I called today and mine's in testing. There's hope, don't give up. I feel bad for all the people who have been waiting much longer than myself though. Dell's system of doing things is f***ed up.

 

Im not complaining but, I still havent recieved a delay and my ship date is in 2 days. Still nervous, I figure Ill get it eventually. I just hope I get lucky....wait a second....lucky?...Think about that for a sec.....Im lucky to have the product I ordered be delivered when its suppost to? How dumb does that sound...lol

Yeah, I was trying to decide between brown or red...I picked red because of the no delay on July 25.

 

The dell rep has called me on Sat and Today but both times I was unable to answer the phone. She said in both msges that my order WILL ship MON AUGUST 13th 2007.

Anyone have any updates with theirs?

 

I got an email yesterday telling me mine is still delayed until Aug 28. My original esd was Aug 10

 

No delays yet for me, living in Australia i think there is a different factory/build place where we get our notebooks, then to where most North Americans such as yourselves get yours.Chances are, they may have ruby red lids in the place where my laptop will be built. I won't be too fussed if mine gets delayed, cause the customer service in Australia are very lenient- i already know what freebies i want in compensation for the delays, if there are any........

Oh...Awsome Buckeye! I hope I get mine soon! Its weird...everyone has gotten the 8/28 delay...but I got the 8/20 delay....I have yet to see anyone on these forums have that date. Correct me if I am wrong.

Well, I ordered a notebook 1 day after my Canadian friend Cooch. I did have one ordered the previous week, but opted for the better processor and less RAM to start with so had to cancel. My order date was July 25, estimated delivery date was 8/10, still with no update. Contacted Dell today and they didn't say august 25th, noooooo....but SEPTEMBER 25!!!! Guess I'll wait and see if my status gets updated to the same. Crossing my fingers and waiting....

 

Hey Guys, sorry to see that some are still waiting on their systems! That really does suck, especially when it gets so close to the date you should have had it, then they zing yah!

Can't understand the staggered delivery dates....strange? I got mine on the date I was told. Can't say I'm unhappy, but I am a bit baffled after reading about the back luck everyone has had. I was a bit scared though.

All I can say is that it will be worth the wait....hold on if you can! Maybe they will credit you back something for your troubles?

UUURRRGGHHH. Got bumped today ANOTHER week. Do you think it's worth asking for additional compensation? They gave me free next day shipping on 8/2 and didn't budge after the first delay.

At least they're keeping you updated. It is now 5 days after my estimated delivery date, and I have not heard one update from them. Even my status page still shows the 10th of August. The only update I received was because I called in myself. So not impressed right now.

 

This crap is ridiculous. Im waiting for my next delay. Im sure Ill get it sometime before the new year.

 

Ruby Redders : ) There is hope. My 1520 shipped today. 8/16 ship date and 8/21-8/23 delivery day with next day shipping ??? Anyway. Good luck to all of you who ordered way before me, hopefully your 1520s will ship soon.

Anyone else get their Ruby Reds shipped or put into packageing recently?

 

I just got through chatting online about my order and was told that the processor is on backorder. It's always something!

 

I don't know how etexbill's order is delayed b/c of the processor. We have the same the same specs minus the bluetooth and etex's order was placed before mine. I find that it all a little hard to believe.

 

I just got off chatting with online CSR and things don't look good to me. Ruby red is still back ordered for 1520. Mine is supposed to ship tomorrow and I am pretty certain that's not going to happen, although CSR tried to assure me it will ship tomorrow.

 

I also just got off the phone chatting with the CSR about my second delay. She told me the cut glass and lids were the backordered components that were delaying the build. She offered no promises of shipping date but did offer the standard $100 coupon apon shipment of the laptop.

Daughter leaves on the 24th, so I've got my backup plan - Toshiba with the same specs except the 128 Mb graphics card. Will purchase on the 22nd if computer not shipped.

 

Mine got here today! Estimated ship was 8/31, but it shipped Tuesday, and arrived at my house today! I'm on it now and it's amazing! It feels very sturdy, and so far it's been flying. I removed all the Dell bloatware, and installed avast antivirus, and am currently installing Flight Sim X, and then Tiger Woods 07. Definitely worth the wait in my opinion. I'm gonna bust out the digital later and take some pics as soon as I can pry myself from actually using it!

 

It came... It came.... I'm so happy. I don't see any graininess but I haven't tried it with the white background. Dell really did overnight my order. Shipped on the 16th arrived today (17th) at about 10 am. Initial impressions... 1520 is beautiful in red. She's heavy and the battery wobbles a bit but that's not going to bother me... other than that she's perfect so far. I hope some more people get their's soon.

 

I have the same issue with my 6 cell (little wobble), but it's amazing! Battery wobble doesn't bother me at all. Could just be that it's my first laptop, but I was absolutely amazed with the computer. Impatient1, you need to update your sig since you have it !

 

Whoopee!!!!! I just got my.........free carrying case delivered! Of course, I have no laptop computer to put in it but I guess that's just a minor detail

 

I got the dreaded delay notice email. I am pushed back from 08/17 to 08/28.

I just found my ESD changed to 8/28. The new est delivery day became 8/31~9/04. Hope we will not get another delay.

I am getting the impression that some have gotten their shipments that have ordered after me. I was told by Dell that the delay was the Ruby Red I ordered. If you have indeed received your order and ordered after me I would love to know the particulars. Here is my information:
