To my surprise I received my 1520 this morning. I had the 3-5 shipping and it wasn't supposed to be here until next week. Yay DHL! I'm just going to give a simple review until I really have time to sit and explore what the computer is capable of.
First, screen graininess. I see none. I have the glossy screen and I think it looks pretty good. Next, the headphone noise. I popped in a DVD just to test it out and I was amazed how good the sound was. No noise at all. I was using regular iPod headphones. It is not as heavy as I thought it would be. I thought the thickness of it would make it a lot heavier.
My only complaint so far is vista. I just don't think it's that great. The log in screen looks funny to me with just one little picture and the user's name. I prefer XP.
Overall I am very happy. If your computer hasn't gotten here yet, I wouldn't fret over whether or not to return it until you see it for yourself. I was having doubts, but I'm glad I didn't cancel. No graininess or noise.
Kinda short, but I will update with pics and a more detailed review later on this weekend.

i just saw the inspiron at a kiosk, and overall I was very happy. The keyboard was addictive, and the screen looked great.
No doubt, it was a lot thicker than I imagined, but the weight was fine. Some people on this website greatly exaggerated the latch. Yes, there was movement when it was closed. The quality of the machine was amazing, didnt look cheap at all.
My only question is whether the vostro will be like this as well? -
Can't wait for the pics, can you please try some games on it(It be great if you could take some pictures of your playing a game or even better video).
Thanks for this, I never seen any videos or pictures of people playing games on there dell 1520. -

All i want to do is get rid of vista since its not that good when it comes to networking thing....im checking if i can install win2003 server also on this but noe sure if the device drivers on my 1520 will also be available for win2003 and same thing with Linux...anybody who tried this on inspirion 1520 with VISTA as the deafult OS?WinXP will sure be one of the OS that i will be installing in replacement with VISTA. Any inputs or recommendations is highly appreciated. -
If your worried about linux and its drivers try a live cd first and see if everything works with that before actaully installing the whole thing.
