I thought that organizing a list might help people see the shipment dates of the Jetblack 1520 Laptops. I went ahead and listed specs according to specs seen on the signature. You just ordered it on the 6th, it's only been 4 days. Give them a chance.

 

I know I'm an impatient bugger, but I still had to wait for my midnight blue for 3weeks before I had to cancel it.

 

there is a backorder on jet black now, you might wanna cancel and reorder the midnight blue, they just got a bunch in stock because that is the most popular color.

 

You would know this how? Dell's website still hasn't posted any delays on black and people have been getting their black 1520's shipped out in as little as a week. BTW does anyone know if Dell works on build-stage laptops on saturdays too?

Same here, a 1721. I haven't seen anything about big delays for the 1720/1721 series though.

<-------------- Still Waiting. Trying to be patient. Wearing out the redial button on my phone. Cel phone minutes are being used up. Wife left me because I hold the phone more than I hold our kid. Maybe laptop will come before she takes all of my money from me. Then again, with my luck - black will have a delay. Maybe I will make things well for myself if I cancel, get my wife and kid back, and order a $600 desktop from WalMart.

I certainly hope it arrives by the middle of next week...as i will be moving into the university housing the week after. I just want time to break it in before school starts.

just reordered a 1520 jet black on 8/5 esd is 8/22 still in production... sigh...

 

Mine's the 22nd as well, but from what I can tell it should ship earlier than that.

 

I believe that they overestimate intentionally...which is good...but not good if you get a phone call or email saying your new lappy's been delayed.

 

Just now chatted with Dell support person.
It looks like T7300 2.0GHz is causing the delay

I think I've read somewhere that these delays don't last as long as the color lid delays. 3-5days.

 

Yeah reordering again is only gonna hurt more than it helps. I'd stick with black. The few who reordered to black are probably the ones who go to this forum and most likely no one else.

 

I just noticed that theres a delay on jet black in 1720 section... but its only 6 days so it should effect me that much, or at all

same here man.. i picked T7300 because i have to get it to $1300 to get $300 off.. sigh..!!

 

The T7300 is the most popular option for the 1520.. so naturally they may run short, which I hope will not be the case =/

On a positive note, it does look like Dell is catching up on the orders though.

So I'm guessing no one who ordered a Jet Black 1520 has gotten to boxing in the last week or so? =\ This is starting to get me worried.

 

They are in the so-called "random" process of shipping out the midnight blues.

In other words, there is a delay on jet blacks. Of course they won't tell you that. They will tell that your processor is delayed or your wireless card or even the damn AC adapter. If they let the cat out of the bag that they actually ran out of the jet black lid, then the you know what will hit the fan!

 

Originally ordered a blue Dell 1520 and it got back ordered until the 28th. I re-ordered on the 4th and decided to go with black instead, an upgrade to the HDD and some extra blue tooth options. Actually came out $100 cheaper then my first order because I called up and asked them to piece it together with as many coupons as possible. I guess EPP wasn't the way to go.

It went into kitting at like 1 am saturday, then to build and by tonight it went through testing and into boxing.

The new ship date on the re-order was the 17th anyway, so even if it ships early it's only going to get here 5-6 days early but I am excited! They even gave me the next day business and $150 off on the reorder.

 

Ah so maybe there is a little hope for the rest of us in the next couple of days. I wish Dell had a system that notified you a delay on a part, and gave you an option to change to a part with no delay.

Just wondering if anyone had requested "Expedite" on your orders?

 

I didn't ask for my order to be expedited, my rep gave it to me. I think he felt like he was doing me a favor. If I get my computer before that time, then I would make sure I thank him.

 

The process seems unlikely with how they treating everyone with the same incentives. It seems they may have just talked you out to expedite the process of making you leave the chat room in which same has been done to me also with my previous order of midnight blue. But lets keep our hopes up and hopefully, our lappy's will arrive before next weekend

 

I have been dealing with the same Case manager for three orders so far. He knows perfectly well what I have been dealing with. He has been very helpful. I always give props where they are due and my man Seyd shines through!

 

I hope you get your laptop soon matt, as for me, I need mine before I move to UCSD this fall!

 

And interesting enough, our order date and specs are similar except for the harddrive so we should be getting our laptops near the same dates. Unless the "dells random process theory" comes into effect

 

Talking to a Dell rep at the moment, according to her: "There may be delay on JET BLACK MATTE FINISH." When I asked how many days, she says " I do not have the exact information."

UPDATE: Delay on the T7300 as well. According to her, "There is delay on the processor as well T7300(2.0GHZ) CORE."
