Or far more easily, Go to Bios, Go to Sata options and change it from AHCI (I think thats what its called, its that or something very similar) To ATA. The out of the Box XP CD works with that.

Finally i figures out. Just turn off AHCI in BIOS and choose ATA. This solves the problem. Thanx a lot everyone :D

yeah but then your not running the drive as serial ata, which i believe may impact performance. specially because its only a 5400 rpm drive, id really like to run it sata, but I too had problems slipstreaming using kysterma's method. Im going to try again, but dvds are 2 bucks a pop

nlite method takes only about 10 mins with burning a cd or dvd.

I followed your instructions, but unless I'm mistaken, streamlining means that the drivers will be added DURING installation, not prior to. I've still been getting the SATA error messages. Another thing to note: when it asks me for drivers, it's defaulting to the A:\ drive...(which sadly does not exist on dells...or most lappys for that matter). Could you go into more detail about the setup?

For optimal HDD performance if you turned off AHCI for installation, you'll still want to install the SATA drivers post installation and turn AHCI back on.

That would be because Intel Matrix storage is TurboMemory Drivers...

But after turning on AHCI back on it will be impossible to boot XP and the problem will reappear...

is there away to install the drivers without the floppy?

Use nLite to add SATA drivers to your XP CD

Is that a tested response? I mean did you change AHCI to IDE, install XP, boot successfully in XP, install intel SATA drivers, rebooted into XP, rebooted into BIOS, changed IDE (ATA) back to AHCI, and rebooted? This has worked for me in the past.

Thanks to Wingbr and Gimpy3621, I finally install XP and Vista in my machine and every thing is working fine.

Please fallows this link for instructions on installation of XP with Sata drivers install.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/show...=141350&page=3
    (thanks Gimpy3621)

Note: it took me a while to insert the drivers using Nlite. Insted of selecting PNB type select all the drivers in INF mode. Maybe this could be obvious but I'm a Newbee of this, and it mite help others.

    Thanks again!

How did you install the intel sata drivers? Did you right click on the inf file and say 'install' or did you just fire the setup? It is possible that setup tries to find if the hardware is there or not and then only install the drivers, which will not happen because AHCI is not there at the time where you trying to install drivers. INF method gets them installed regardless.

Well, Please fallow the instructions found in the link i send. Very important,

Wen Nlite ask to insert the drivers (R154200) select ''multiple driver folder''.
Then select the folder where you put the drivers. Important: select all the drivers (to be on the safe side) and select .INF not PNP.

If you fallow the instructions in the link, you will get it rigth.

    good luck.
