Anyone know of a for sure fix to this problem? I spoke to tech support and he was convinced that it was the hard drive and wants to send me a replacement hard drive. The noise stopped when I took out the hard drive and turned on the laptop, so he tells me its obviously the hard drive that's causing it. I'm not so sure though.

Ya, it seems the only way Dell can "fix" it is by giving an xfi. Is it better to just talk to customer service straight to get the xfi, without dealing with tech support at all?
