I was using the laptop as normal....then all of a sudden, everything shuts down. Just like that, screen goes blank, lights go out, mouse has no lights. I had to press the power button for it to come back, which it did and it was as it was before...except now it is a bit fuzzy. This is so weird. I was playing Halo and closed the lid, and opened it back before, but it opened back on the game and I exit it. Any indea what may be the problem?

I don't really understand.. You had the lid closed, while playing a game..

HAH, if so it likely overheated.

Sounds like an inverter issue that or the screen is defected.

I was playing the game and closed the lid for a while. Opened it back up and was able to resume with the game, closing it. Then I was in windows just fine when I pressed Windows key, searched for a program, hit enter then bam, blank, and all the stuff described above. It's late so I'll go sleep now, and turn the laptop off in case it is an overheating issue. But would that cause blurry text? I am hoping it is just my eyes tired :)

I have an XPS m1330 to compare the screen with in the morning if anything. If it is an overheating issue, would that mean letting it col is enough or is that perma-damage?

Or could that be a Vista thing? Hmm, wonder if anyone did any guide on installing XP on the 1520 when you originally had Vista. Ah well, will check back in the morning.

Oh and is there any test I can do/take to see if the thing really is blurry or if it's just me?

I don't really think there is a way to tell if it's blurry, or if it's you.
Do check the resolution on your display properties. It's possible that it's set to whatever Halo was playing at.

My guess is that it switched to a lower resolution. Check the resolution and make sure you are at the native res

Phew, you guys (and me were right) - It was the resolution and there is a definite difference in how it looks. Native resolution 1680 by 1050 and it was one setting lower. TO think I system restored for nothing :/

I was worried since the laptop has been a bit queer - noise when headphones are plugged in, etc. Thanks for the help.
