    Hey,

I have started having this problem with my dvd drive on my 1520. When I first got the laptop about 3 months ago it all worked fine, but over time certain games have decided to take forever to even be found in the drive, like crysis and STALKER. And now it wont read crysis at all. When I put movies in to watch it starts to do the same thing, it will play for a bit and then pause like it can't read the disc.

All of the discs I am trying are in as new condition, and I am wondering if its a driver problem or something more serious?

I just find it strange that it only happens with certain discs, and that the discs which are not reading properly started having problems at all different times.

    I am running Vista Business...

    Cheers, Ben!

The first thing I would try to suggest is to look at the discs you are trying to use. Do they have any scratches on the playing surface? Is the laptop in a dusty environment? If so you may need to clean the lens of the drive.

Have you checked device manager to see if there are any issues with that drive? Have you checked your event logs to see if it's generating read disc errors?

this had happened to me too, the drive wouldnt work for awhile, and was acting goofy, but then it just went away, try updating to vista SP1, and update the drivers
