Dell is shipping/shipped a replacement 1505 Intel Merom 5600 2x512 100gb with Vista Home Premium. My 1505 that is on hand now has the xp Intel core 2 duo 5500 2x512. 80gb. Question is will the replacement 1505 run slower with the Vista home premium? Do I have to spend xxtra money tu upgrade a somewhat fast laptop and get 2gb? This is crazy. Maybe I will refuse to sign for delivery. Atleast I wanted Vista basic. Damn

Umm, just disable Aero and you have Vista basic. Ram is super-cheap.

On the other hand you could argue with Dell to give you XP or something.

How do I disable Aero? If I upgrade ram to 2gb would it run smoother?

I'm just worried about the speed of the computer. It would run better with xp then vista?

Get 2 GB of RAM and you'll be fine. Any of today's modern processors are powerful enough to handle Vista.
