I just received mine yesterday. It's not that large and should be fine to carry around. I'm thinking about getting the neoprene cases; although they don't offer a lot of protection, they can carry the laptop around without the bulkiness feeling. Also, I have the three years accidental damage protection, so I'm not afraid of the protection issue with the neoprene cases.

Where to keep the net-adapter in such case?

The e1505 is portable, but not as fun carrying around as a Macbook 13.3", it weighs nearly 7 pounds with a 9 cell battery, dvdr and a dedicated graphic-card, then with a net-adapter and a mouse, some might say it's to much to walk around with on short travels where you have to be mobile.

Nope, if i were buying a notebook to lug around all day with adequate performance i would pick this (15") screen size.

If it is only for work and don't mind the (a bit too) small (to be comfortable for extended use) screen size, check out the 13" size. but then again 15" strikes the perfect balance (size/comfort viewing) IMO.... sorry for my long post....

Net-adapter? Are you referring to a wireless router or something else? I think the e1505 has a built-in wireless card.

Is a 15.4" notebook like the E1505 too big to carry around? That depends on what you are used to. If you've had a 14" notebook then a 15.4" widescreen notebook isn't that much different in size, probably a bit longer but not as wide. If you are a frequent traveler I would recommend a smaller notebook but otherwise the E1505 is fine.

I think the 15.4" size is the happy medium. Its small enough to carry around, yet big enough to be used as a desktop replacement.

Depends on the person. A smaller person would probably be uncomfortable carrying around a 15.4. Now with that said I'm a smaller person and it doesn't bother me. A good backpack makes it much to carrying laptop like an E1505 and makes the weight harder to feel.

I consider 19" to be super sized. 15.4" and 17" to be large sized. With 15.1 and 14.1 middle sized. 13.3" and 12.1" are small sized and anything less is a baby laptop a.k.a. ultraportable.

I carry my E1505 around from class to class everyday(in high school) and I don't think that its to much.. but then again.. I'm a nerd and not having my computer with me is like going to school without shoes..

Don't know what you say in the US, but the thing that you use to charge your laptop with power, you know that little thing with two cords that's transform 220/110 AC to 12 DC, you plug one end to the laptop and the other to a wall socket. :D

I can remember when 15in weighed as much as todays 17in so no 15in is perfect compromise between power and portability. So if you must compromise go 15. Unless you really need/want portability go 15

For me, 7lbs or less is no issue at all (I am 6' though) and I'd rather have a 6.5lb 15" more powerful laptop with better graphics/CPU etc than a 14" 4.5lb laptop thats less powerful, 2lbs isnt a big deal to me at all... My current laptop is a 14" Inspiron 1100 and its like 7.5lbs... I honestly dont think its that bad as far as weight. I'm planning on either getting a D820 (the latitude version of the E1505) or a macbook pro 17", they are both about 6.5lbs and no issue for carrying around as far as I'm concerned, but I do spen most of my time on my computer at home.

if you were to be traveling a LOT, like going to starbucks/library/school/work with your laptop all the time and you dont do much for really demanding programs, it might be better to get a E1405 instead.

and because i go to a small private school, i can get from class to class in seconds
    is there a big difference between a 14.1" and a 15.4"?

    thanks for all the replys

i tote around my 15.4" widescreen notebook, no problems. I actually found a good messenger bag IN THE GARBAGE today. washed and dryed it, even had a strap. hooray! some kind of dentist's office insignia on it, no biggy.

The E1505 has alot of power for the weight, mine is 7.25 lbs with the 9-cell battery. If your going to be carry it around alot i would go with a backpack, makes it much easier. Having walked long distances around campus with both the 15" and a 12" ibook, in shoulder style bags you will notice the difference. Use a backpack with the 15" and you will be fine.

IMHO, 15.4" is a little big and heavy to carry around if you do that a lot. it is no problem if you carry it once in a while(it is not too heavy or big), however, when you carry it or even use it on the top of your laps for long time, you will start to feel its weight and believe me, you feel heavy.

Besides its portability, 15.4 perhaps is the best performance/value laptop you can get from Dell.

Basically, you ain't gonna be carryin this thing around with one hand like models do with tiny-ass laptops. But it is very easy to throw into a backpack, just like a book. go to cc or bb and see for yourself.

Circuit City or Best Buy. I work for a moving company and can get all kinds of nice stuff whenever the offices we move decide it's cheapier/easier to just trash it. I've gotten some nice desks, chairs, etc and got a nice laptop carrying backpack once mine arrives.

Power adapter--I get it now. I decided not to go with the neoprene because it doesn't fit the e1505. I just ordered this. Check it out if you guys like it. I bought it for 37-something with shipping.
