I'm really interested in that extra 120 pixels of vertical resolution but it appears that 16:9 not 16:10 is the new standard.

The only laptop I see on Dell's site is the E6500 and unfortunately I don't believe it's LED backlit:

    15.4” UltraSharp™ Wide WXGA+ (1440x900) LED Display-Brushed Metal Black [add $79]
15.4” Widescreen WXGA (1280x800) LED Display - Brushed Metal Black [Included in Price]
    15.4" UltraSharp™ Widescreen WUXGA (1920x1200) Display-Brushed Metal Black [add $129]

I currently have the Vostro 1700 with at 1920x1200 screen and wanted to downsize to a 15" but keep the resolution.

There was Studio 15 with 1920x1200 but it was an AMD processor which I want to avoid.

Any secret models I'm not aware of?

Unfortunately I don't think so. 16x9 is a bit annoying.
