Had one replacement AUO, it was ****e. Got onto a manager, they sent out an upgraded screen (UK), a MONITOR\LPLF300.

I have no digital camera, only a phone camera, so I can't really show the difference.

There is no grain - it is pure, very white whites - almost shockingly so. There is very, very little backlight bleed in comparison.

And if you get it through a Dell manager (mine was called kevin) they prioritise the manufacture, so I got the replacement a week after they chose to.

(It was a brand new replacement, not just a new monitor).

I'm really glad to hear someone from the UK got one of these, I've spent the last two weeks on the phone to Dell trying to get this problem solved so at least now I can point to this thread and tell them I want an LG. :D

I just called Dell today and spoke with another manager he told me there are no LG screens in the UK at the minute and he couldn't tell me when they would be available again. He offered to replace the system but I just told him I'd wait for an LG and asked to be kept updated. I'll check in twice a week as well just to make sure I'm not forgotten about.

I am in exactly the same boat as yourself. I had my WXGA+ AUO screen replaced yesterday with a WSXGA+ Truelife made by Samsung. SEC3350.

Still had a very bad grain problem and using it in anything other than its native resolution the colours were awful. Dell knew I wasn't happy after the engineer guy had spoken to Dell on my behalf. They rang me and I explained the only way this will get resolved is if they replace with the LG screen.

He said that there are none in the UK at all. Like yourself I said I will wait but I insisted that I be kept informed.

I have a few names to quote and an active case number so hopefully they won't forget about this.

I have also made my feelings known via email to Dell.

I thought that the LG Out of Stock line might have been a blag but if you have had the same response it might just be the case.

Lets hope they get them in soon!!!

Maybe no 1440, but there are 100% 1680 screens.

I have 1680 WSXGA+ Truelife Samsung which they put in, in replacement of my original AUO wxga+ screen. Dell have stated there are no LG screens to replace mine at the moment.

Unless , they are looking at my original build of a WXGA+ and are looking at replacing that res screen with an LG.

Either way if I do not hear from them on Monday I will be calling up.......again!

........why choose the wsxga+ screen, if you like playing heavy games with your Vostros ?

wsxga+ is to much for the 8600M gt if you want to play with good FPS in Native + AA/AF.

Native is allways Native in games, this extra sharpness (you looking for) dosent show up if you dont play in Native.

i have seen both in person and can say side by side the lg at least in this case blows the samsung away with and without calibration... and they were the 1680 wsxga screens...i had the sec3350 and brother in law had the lfpl300 on his it was soooooo much better it was literally night and day.. not saying all sec3350's will be this way but i had 2 that were both exactly the same... crap

Awesome! Sounds like my SEC3550 screen, although I do see some very slight light bleed from the bottom in dark rooms. I need to put up some screen shots, so people dont get the idea that SEC screens are anything like the AUO ones. I couldnt be happier with my SEC screen.

the guy who told you there are no LG screens in the UK is outright lying to you. I got my xps m1530 3 weeks ago, a week later the tech came round with an LG screen LPLF300. they've now offered me a replacement as laptop wont turn off when you shut the lid, so i said i wanted an LG screen in it and th guy just told me we don't use LG screens. i just laughed and told him i have an LG screen in my laptop already. theyre basically full of **** if my new one doesnt have an LG screen to start with I'll be sending it back getting a refund and buying a comp from another company. the Samsung is completely unacceeptable if you have seen the LG screen. a shame really as the laptop is hot but the samesung screen just fails

Well I received my new laptop today and I am very pleased to say it is an LG. Spec in sig

It is absolutely stunning, no backlight bleed, no dead pixels, no grain, no colour changing from different angles - love it!

So, whoever said Dell UK has no LG is obviously telling porkies :D
