    this is my inspiron 6400 and i had plans to sell this in the next couple of days... engineer coming out on friday as i'm at work till then......

    If you take the address from the properties you'll see the pic.

    Looks like your videocard has gone bad - check it on an external monitor. If it's the same the vid cards gone, if it's fine the LCD has gone. Lookslike vid card though.

    Luckily it looks like you'll be getting it fixed ;)

    Definitely looks like a video card problem... I recall having the same jaggy lines and dots all over one of my older Compaq laptops and the video card was the culprit.

    i've had a look at the support call and the tech has despatched a new hard drive and motherboard.

    I've got an ATI x1300, i've got this terrible feeling when the engineer comes and replaces the part it'll still be there

    the lcd has stopped working now but when connecting to external monitor still get same problems.

    Yeah, it is most likely a graphics card. But you could resize that pic to something smaller ;)

    If the ATI X1300 is one of those cards that's built into or soldered to the motherboard, the motherboard swap should fix it.

    nah it's an additional expansion as it was replaced recently
