i have vista basic on my 1420, and everytime i change the power plan settings (such as how long it waits before turning the monitor/hard drive off) and turn my computer off then on, the settings are reset. it has become very annoying to change the settings every single time. does anyone know what the problem is?

bump. can anyone help me out?

would keeping the battery out of the laptop have an effect on it saving settings? i keep the battery out while i have AC power plugged in at my house.

have you tried leaving the battery in and doing all of the power changing options? just to see what happens?

Have you tried creating your own powerplan and using that instead of modding the preexisting ones settings?
