    Hi,

My Inspiron 1420 started to act weird, sometimes it just won't turn on, the other time it will turn on but after few seconds into the startup will shut-off.

When I connect the charger to the laptop, the battery blue led indicator will turn on for 2 secs and then turn off.

Is it possible that my charger is broken? can I check it before I buy a new one?

    Thx.

    I would try:

    - Testing your AC adapter with a multi-meter
    - Using a known good Dell 90 watt AC adapter
    - Removing the battery and trying to power on the machine
    - Remove the battery and AC adapter, holding down the power button for 30 seconds 2-3 times.

If it still doesn't power on after that, your motherboard probably has a power circuitry issue, you'll likely need a new motherboard.
