    hey there
im having trouble deciding between the 1420 and the m1330 because you can configure both pretty much the same
so i was wondering if anyone could persuade me and tell me the main differences between the two other than the screen size and the ports etc.
and im not too fussy about weight or the led screen

    thanks in advance!

EDIT: also is the 8400m GS any good at all for gaming? i only really play cs source and starcraft 2 when that comes out

and does anyone know about Dell canada student discounts or anything related?

If you don't mind the weight or LED screen, there's not much difference other than the screen size. The Inspiron is magnesium alloy and the XPS is aluminum and plastic, so I might be inclined to say the Inspiron is more durable; don't hold me to that, though.

Really, if you don't care about weight or the LED screen, you'll probably be better off with the Inspiron 1420 as you can get the same features for much less money.

I think you hit on most of the differences. The M1330 is smaller, thinner, lighter, has HDMI, optional LED-backlit screen, optional SSD (solid state drive), optional fingerprint reader, different styling, and support from the supposedly-better XPS support/cust. service team.

If none of those things excite you much, then get the 1420; it's cheaper and has a bigger screen.
