Can owners of the Inspiron 1420 comment on the fan noise and temperatures?

I just bought an HP dv2700t, and a) the fan noise is a louder than I want, and b) the fan never turns off, even when idling. I'm considering returning it for a 1420.

    Thanks in advance.

Same as G473R, my 1420 runs very quiet when not playing 3D games, almost inaudible, even in the night. The fan is always running (it will adjust its speed itself), but you cant hear them on low setting, they are quiet. The temperature is also very good. But I dont undervolt my com, instead, i overclock my 8400m gs like MAD!

My experience is similar to previous posts. I seldom notice the fan running. There are two 1420s in my house and neither has an issue with fan noise.

Under normal use (I'm not a gamer, but do edit video and photos), 1420 is probably the quietest and coolest notebook I've owned... Pretty much a non-issue on both counts (much to my relief as I hate hot, noisy computers).
