Normally when the notebook lid is closed, the notebook goes into a low power state. This is what it normally does when my power adapter isn't plugged in, but when it is, the notebook doesn't go into this low power state. I checked the settings for when the notebook lid is closed on both battery settings and when it is plugged in, and it has not been changed.

You could try checking the power options under the control panel, might be there.

The problem is that normally, closing the laptop when on either battery or plugged in causes the laptop to go sleep. The settings on the Power Options both say to put the computer to sleep when I close the lid for either situation. However, the laptop only goes to sleep when the lid is closed while on battery power. Closing the lid while plugged in only results in the screen being turned off. I have no idea when it started doing this.

xander that almost makes no sense because your computer just turns the lcd off just like if you push fn+ w/e to turn it off.
