    Hi guys:

I am running now Orthos to check for system stability after i have formatted my whole computer, but i noticed that it gets very hot.

I ran everest and to my surprise the CPU temps at LOAD (orthos running in background) are 98 Celsius.

I am no temperature expert but this seems to be way too much or not??
    What can i do?

I do have warranty but my computer works ok and until now everything stable, and i don't know what tech support could possibly do to lower too muchs these temperatures.

    Any ideas? thanks

Well, you could either buy a cooling pad or you can try undervolting your CPU. It won't affect performance as long as it's stable, and you can really slash off temperatures.

i would try re-applying the thermal paste, I redid my machine that used to run at around the 80's and now it will idle in the 40-50 range.

Judging by the seeming knowledge of the original poster it isn't right to assume that they would know how to rip open their laptop, buy thermal paste, and then apply it and put everything back together...........

There is definitely something wrong with the cooling system. That is one thing that the 14 inch Dell's do well, they run cool. It sounds like either your fan is failing, or there is a buildup of debris in the vent, blocking airflow.

The heat sink is very easy to access and remove. I added thermal paste to my Vostro 1400 the first week I got it. My CPU temp is between mid to upper 30s in casual use and in the 50s during heavy use or running benchmark programs.
Just remove the L shape cover on the bottom. Loosen the 4 screws with springs and lift up the whole heat sink assembly. Rub off the old paste on the CPU and the bottom of the heat sink. Apply new layer.
