This absolutely just made my night. I'm hoping that this means I'll have it by next Friday and going up to school; even with all the bs, I think I'd love Dell by default if I did. It shipped sometime between 7:00 pm and 3:00 am EDT, haha... and just so you guys know where things are in the line, here are the specs:

Why thank you. I'm just praying now that I don't get hit by one of Dell's magic tricks and end up back in preproduction tomorrow, or something, hahaha. Although DHL has my shipping number!

I can't even tell you what it felt like when I heard that Dell lady's voice tell me my order was shipped. I think I actually jumped in the air. Yeah, I'm a nerd.

Seeing all these people get their laptops before me .. and with colors I might add makes me think about how the kid that always got picked last in kickball must've felt

Aw, sorry... if it makes you feel better, I was often that kid, so maybe this is karma catching up. I had also ordered and been cancelled by Dell for no apparent reason a week and a half earlier and had to reorder, so I've waited a bit longer than that, even.

I'll still be around here, wishing everyone luck. We have to stick together, you know, haha.

You know, at least they got a fairly chipper-sounding woman to do the recording. Can you imagine if she had some rough accent, or something? I might have killed myself after the 100th call (kidding, kidding).

The good news is that if they have mine rolling out of there, yours shouldn't be far behind unless they're royally backlogged on the green lids...

what is crazy is that two days ago you were posting about your lappy being in preproduction... i bet they hadn't updated the status for a while! I hope that is the same deal with my lappy... i'm still in preproduction!

 

Alrighty! I ordered my 1420 Aug. 6th... And it's already been shipped! Woot. I'm esited..

Well, it was in preproduction when I called and checked with the "Dell Purchase ID," but when I called and checked with the "Order Number" they told me it was boxing. Make sure you check with both to get a better idea.

I have no idea why it would be like that, though.

 

oh wow! i've only been using my customer # to check the automated order status. Thanks tremonti.. I'm going to try out the order #.... WISH Me LUCK lol

 

OMG YOU WERE SO RIGHT! wow, its so nice to hear her say something else.. in fact, i even told her to repeat it Wow.. today I'm happy because I found out i'm in the build stage and not really in prepro-F$$$in-duction stage... ow ow!

Same for me, actually. My laptop and printer shipped, but no dice on the LoJack. I really don't care about that at this point, though.

I actually laughed at that one, haha... very nice.

 

The DHL site now has my order "in transit," with an estimated delivery date of Monday, August 13th. I make a very interesting (although very happy) noise when I saw that.

 

What is the number you have to call to check your laptop status? I want to join in on the potential-excitement/dissapointment.....

 

My shipment date got delayed by a week...

 

You can call 1-800-433-9014 to get the status.

 

And makes sure you use the seven-digit "order number" to check the status, not the "purchase ID;" they don't seem to update the purchase ID status.

i'm in the same boat, i ordered 7/13 for an ESD of 8/3.
then on 8/3 i get the news that my ESD is now 8/10..
gave a call, talked it out and waited for 8/10.
i call on 8/9 to find out it is in the "boxing stage", hooray right?
8/10 in the a.m. i check my account to see a new ESD fo 8/17.
So now i make a call and explain what is going on, customer care rep. offers me free next day air, then says she cant do it, then she can and finally was not able to bump to next day air. i asked for email and phone call service for any and all updates regarding my account and stated that i needed the laptop by 8/20. Sure thing, says the customer svce. rep.
so i go online at about 1 a.m. on 8/11 e.s.t. and find the email i have been waiting for since 7/13... order shipped. i check and re check and now i see my tracking number and all. so hopefully by monday or tuesday i get my 1420.

all i can do now is patiently wait and pray that DHL performs their fine service and delivers my package safe and sound...

i'll keep you all posted..

When my order got delayed...I spoke to the customer care and they bumped up my shipping method from 3-5 Business day shipping to Next Business day shipping...but still I really pissed off that I have to wait so long to get my laptop...
