I'd say it counts, they're basically the same machine. Here's what I got my Vostro 1400 for:

    T5470 1.6GHz C2Duo
    1GB RAM
    80GB 5400RPM HD
    CD/RW DVD/ROM
    1440x900 WXGA+
    nVidia 8400M GS 128MB
    Dell 1390 802.11g wireless
    Dell 355 Bluetooth
    9cell 85Wh battery
    Vista Basic

$628 + tax and then another $9.98 for the 30% off coupon from eBay

After receiving it in the mail, I immediately upgraded to 2GB RAM (used ram) for $40 and sold the 1GB that came with it for $20, so that's another $20 in cost if you want to factor that in.

EDIT: I had to wait about a month for this deal, patience works out sometimes! Happy shopping!

omg, you people are so lucky to have coupons and all these weird savings. I ordered from Canada and I feel like I got ripped off now. =.=

although if I got it without warranty and antivirus it would've been $1139...

I did the same thing... I then called dell's resolution because I wanted to return the system... she told me she can knock of $75 bucks. i told her i'll call her back.... took my time, called her back. I countered her at $200 discount ( I knew It wasn't gonna happen but I wanted roam for negotiation)... She went up to $125 and I came down to 150.... we agreed at 150. :)

Dell DOES NOT want your used laptop back. They rather cut corners, break even but they dont want your used laptop.
