This might seem a little trivial, but I'm going to be transporting my 1420 in a bookbag that has a padded laptop compartment, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to position the laptop.

My DVD drive is a little loose, it can be pushed in and upwards a little bit. Should this end go on the bottom or the top?

The compartment covers all but 1.5 inches of the laptop, and there's a chance that the fabric will contact the side. Which side would handle that better: the bottom or the colored top?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

My guess would be the bottom.... I don't have a good reason for that.. just a suggestion.

yes...many other ppl also slide in some pieces of felt paper or any soft material to make it feel snug.

I always place my laptop in my backpack with the DVD UP!

Never wanted to take the chance that the DVD would be loose and break with the weight of the laptop. In my case the other side has nothing moveable.
