My graphics card failed, they sent me a new one under warranty. It seems slower. I play richards burn rally, and I used to be able to play it with no problem, but now it freezes or slows down all the time. What the heck? I can't even play the game now. Ideas?

download GPU-Z and tell us your temperatures...maybe ur gpu is downthrottling due to high temperatures

I would also try downloading the latest bios / driver combos from Dell's site. It's possible that is what is hindering you at the moment.

I have downloaded the latest drivers. The temp went from 72 C to 92 C when playing then back down to 70 C, which is just being on the internet

just did it again and it went to 97C, this is playing a video game for like two or three minutes.

Running vista flip 3d bumps gpu temp up about 10 C, from low 70's to low 80's.

Just tried playing a game again. It went up to 104 C, after about five minutes. The slowing of the graphics card is definitely related to the heat.

    My questions......
How come this new card is doing this and the card I had before never did this? It is supposedly the same card.

the temperature range you are describing, on the bottom end, seems a little higher than normal. The max temps you are reporting I have also seen myself.

Do you see any artifacts when you are gaming at this point? If the card is throttling itself down that it definitely a sign that it is hitting its thermal limits.

You may want to proceed with getting a new card. Nvidia GPU's are known for having a defect leading to overheating and premature failure. It is possible that you are exhibiting early signs of that.

Have you cleaned out your laptop recently? Dust can clog the fans and cause overheating.

I think that you your thermal protection on the GPU is breaking down. I would seriously make a backup / image of the machine and prepare to get another replacement!
