There seems to be nothing but complaints here about the 1520s and even 1720s

but I haven't heard anything bad like cpu whine or grainy screen(1280x800res) about 1420, in fact the only negative I read was that battery doesn't fit snuggly.

So my question is, do you guys think the 1420 is the most successful model in the current Dell series?

from what i have read, and i may be a bit biased, is that yes the 1420 is the least problematic of the 1*20 series. the number of grainy screens seems to be far less than compared to the 1520's. as far as the CPU whine, i have no whine in my laptop, at least anything that i have taken extreme notice of.

Thanks for the reply Brian, it's great to hear 1420s having the least problems, cause that's what I'm going with :)

Did you order yours with a truelife or not?

no mine is anti-glare, matte screen. i got tired of seeing all the smudges, fingerprints, dirt, and smears stand out on my 700m glossy screen. i am really glad i got the screen i did, everythin is still crisp and clear.

Thanks Brian!, I think I'll still go with the truelife screen and see what happens.

Choy, some of them have the same problems as 1500, i.e. cpu whine
