I built my 1420 at Dell.com but needed some help so I called them. At that point my ship date showed 8/29. I didn't like that but the sales person said oh it takes 3-5 days to build and another 3-5 days to ship so I won't take that long but we just put 8/29 to be safe. So I ordered the 1420 on the phone right there. When I got the order conf. email 2 minutes later the ship date was 9/4. This sucks. Can I do something like cancel the order? I can't wait that long.

I suppose you could cancel the order, but what good would that do? And if you can't wait that long, try opting for 'Next Buisness Day Shipping' if you decide to re-order it.
And don't feel bad; my notebook doesn't ship until 9/11. -
You might have to wait. It all depends on which color you chose and the specs.
My ship date is supposed to be 9/5. From what I'm seeing, people who are getting there lappys on 8/28 and starting to get theres 1 week+ some days earlier!!. I hope the process will still speed up maybe we can get ours 1 week+ some days earlier -
I was given a shipping date of 8/21, but to my surprise, I just received an email saying my item just shipped... a whole ten days prior to its scheduled date. So, just my opinion, in all likelihood, you'll probably receive you're system on or before you original thought.

My 1420 was supposed to be shipped on 9/5.. but it's been pushed back two weeks to 9/19. This is horrible.. I'm going to call dell later and try to get some compensation for this delay. I really need my laptop soon.
