    Hi guys:

I currently own an inspiron 1420 with a samsung 14.1 WXGA+ screen (1440x900). The hardware id shows it as SEC4457

I think the screen is OK. Its not awesome and also its not grainy as hell as some people have stated problemes with stuff like this.

I am aware that there are actually LG 14.'1 LCDs out there, and i intend to get one through technical support.

So, please if you can hand in the part number, i'd be very grateful.

    Thanks again,
    Anibal

You're being paranoid. There have been very little to no problems been reported about the 14.1" samsung screens. Live with it or return it and hope to get a different screen.

I did a lot of searching around when I got my 1420 with a AU Optronics 1440X900 screen (which was a grainy mess) a couple of weeks ago. AFAIK, the Samsung you got is the only alternative - no LG screens for Dell 1420. I discussed this with the tech who did my replacement and who works exclusively doing Dell repairs in Los Angeles for several years and he said he had never seen an LG screen for the 1420. So... for what that's worth...
The Samsung SEC4457 is a pretty large improvement over the AU Optronics I got initially, though it's not perfect. If you find an LG screen, please let me (us) know.
