    Hi guys:

I actually own a 1420. My original laptop came with a terrible AUO display- I asked for onsite replacement and got a SEC one. However, it still doesn't look that good, and i am making this topic so other people with 1440x900 14.1' inch screens can share their experiences with these screens.

I've read they are pretty problematic, but are there actually guys out there who are absolutely satisfied by these screens and feel they are great and all?

    thanks

umm the 1440x900 on the 14inch thinkpad is pretty nice, although thinkpad screens are dimmer than other brand laptops.

There are three main screen manufactures, LG, SamSung, and this other one that i can't recall right now. LG makes the best screens, personal opinion...I just compared it at a local lenovo store, the LG one seems to be the brightest...fits perfectly with the pretty thinkpad :)

Dell uses AUO and SEC screens for their Inspiron/Vostro line.

I have the SEC one and I'm quite happy with it.

I do have light leakage on the bottom, but not enough to be bothersome.

Go to device manager, then Monitor, properties -> hardware id

I wonder if it would be possible to source your own, since Dell cannot seem to source the LG specifically. It would help a lot of people who keep getting replacement SEC/AUO screens only to find out its the same or worse than what they had before.
