I am a big fan of high-res screens. Right now, I have a WUXGA on my 15.4", and was pretty set on ordering a d630 with WXGA+ screen. Now that the m1330 has come into play as a possible option, I'm not quite sure how I feel about downgrading my resolution. The smaller screen doesn't bother me, but I like being able to fit a lot of real estate on my screen.

Does anybody know how the content will appear on a WXGA 13.3" screen? I do much statistical work & modeling in Excel for my Engineering coursework, and really like being able to fit a lot on screen when browsing on Firefox.

Any input here? I am buying a machine that will be relevant for my home in the years to come. I will have a business laptop for work, so some of the richer media and graphic performance features in the m1330 make this more attractive as a home machine. However, I may not need as much portability (only 1 semester left in grad school), so the 1420 may even be an option...

Hm...well first off are you thinking about comparing a 15.4" to a 13.3"? Because there is a little bit of a difference on what you will be able to fit with those two resolutions. Personally I would go with a 14.1" over a 13.3" even thought the 1330 looks amazing. Hope that helps some.

No, I have really eliminated the 15.4" from my comparison. I used to love my 15.4 screen but it really isn't portable. After working with a 12.1" this summer, I have really begun to like smaller screens, though the extra rel estate of a 14" may be nice

Well if you were working on a 12.1" screen before, it was at 1200x800, which is the same resolution on a 13.3". If you were fine with the amount of items you could fit on a screen with the 12.1", then you should be fine with a 13.3" at 1200x800. Given the details posted, I think you would probably be happier with the 1420 with WXGA+.
