i have an hdtv and it supports 1366×768 resolution, is there a way i can get my e1705 to have that resolution?

    when i try and change it, it goes from 1290 x 1024 to 1440 x 900

I haven't hooked up my e1705 to an external hdtv yet, but 1366x768 is not a common resolution supported by most GPUs.
BTW, is yours with the 7900gs or X1400?
Here's a short list of the resolutions I know the e1705 supports (with 7900gs):

    1280x720
    1280x768
    1280x800
    1440x900

You might want to try 1280x720 and see if that looks good on your hdtv.

If you have an Nvidia card, there's a tab for setting "Screen Settings & Refresh Rates". right click on your desktop>select "properties">go to the "Settings" tab>click "Advanced"> click the "Graphics card name here" tab>select Classic View if it gives you that whole "try our new super confusing interface!!" thingy>at the bottom of the list that should now appear on the left side of that box, you'll see "Screen Resolutions & Refresh Rates" then add a new one at 1366x768. refresh rate should be in the owners manual of your TV set or on the back somewhere
