I have read conflicting bits of information on the web regarding whether it will be possible in the future to upgrade the m1330 with a blue ray drive ? Does anyone have any further information on this ?

The drive bay on the M1330 is not modular so I would guess that it is not an easy upgrade. At best you would be mailing it to Dell so that they could upgrade it. But since Dell has not mentioned anything about an upgrade path for the M1330 I don't see that as being very likely. Everything I have read indicates that the Blu-Ray drive may/will be a future option. I haven't read anything about it being possible to upgrade an existing M1330's drive.

I think they will offer it eventually, but I bet it is just too expensive for most people to consider ($500-600). Personally I don't see any use for a Blu-Ray drive on a laptop unless you can get it for cheap ($300 max imo). Otherwise you can get a standalone Blu-Ray player for the same price and it will give you better performance. Watching Blu-Ray on a laptop is overkill imo, you can't display the full resolution the m1330 anyways.

Unless of course you're buying the Blu-ray for the extra capacity, or like the idea of being able to take a Blu-ray player around. But that of course means everywhere you go will have to have an HDMI input and an HDTV to take advantage! For movies, it probably is overkill.
