I got my Dell Coupon today ($100) and am going to use it to purchase a battery, however I am not sure if I should get the 6 cell or the 9 cell.

This is actually my wifes laptop and she really needs it to be light as possible when traveling. I can get about 2.5 hours out of the 6 cell that came with the laptop surfing the net, checking email and doing Word/Excel stuff which is primarily what she uses it for.

At this point I am leaning toward the 6 cell which would only be $40 out of pocket after the $100 coupon.

Not sure if the 9 cell and it's weight coupled along with how it sits in the 1330 is worth the extra $50.

    What do you think?

If 2.5 hours is enough for her then you need to get the 6 cell. The 9 cell definitely does add weight to it but not a whole lot, it does however raise the back up which could be uncomfortable during certain sitting situations for her. Personally I would go with the 6.

I would personally go for the 9-cell, simply because in my situation it provides more battery life (in this case, a good 2+ more hours). It also makes the keyboard easier to type on because of the slant it produces, and weighs a measly .3 pounds more than the 6-cell.

I, too, would go for the 9-cell. The extra height and weight are small concessions for much more battery life.

It's about how much she is actually going to use though. If she isnt going to have a need to frigan have her laptop on all day and just an hour or so at a time then she will be fine with the 6.

Is she going to be using it on her lap? Some people is really picky about the back of the laptop being raised. I would go for the 9-cell since more juice is always better in my opinion.

    Valuable input, thanks guys.

Rarely does she use it on her lap. And most times when she does use it there is a power source available to plug into. I don't think there will ever be a time she would run out of battery with the 6 cell unless she is watching a DVD.

Does the 9 cell really last almost 5 hours? That 1" raise of the laptop in the back might be a deal breaker.

Ya, as long as you aren't gaming that battery will last about 5 hours. It raises the back up quite a bit though. Good for typing and ventilation but could also be seen as inconvenient for some.
