Okay,
so long story short...I was one of the original owners of the 1645 XPS 16 Studio line. After numerous problems with their models, which included overheating, throttling, network and HDD failure, I went through a service depot repair, a 1645 replacement, and finally I got an XPS15 to replace it with.
The FedEx got here about 2 hours ago and I got my system; factory certified refurb...okay, I get it, it doesn't have to be new--my OCD is really bugging me with the how the previous owner/techs handled the system--minor nicks and scratches, and the Intel/Windows sticker looks like it's about to come off.
Okay, so here's my specs for comparison:
1645 Studio XPS16:
Intel i7 Quad Core 720QM (was the best they had at the time)
1920x1080p WLED resolution screen
6GB RAM
500GB HDD
Radeon 4670(first model), then 5730 (second model)
Intel Wireless N + Bluetooth (sorry, I don't recall the exact model number here)
XPS15:
Intel i7 Dual Core 2620M (for some reason..this is rated higher and costs more than the QM2630 on their site)
1366x768 WLED resolution (the size is REALLY bothering me...)
8GB RAM (woo...2 more GB?)
750GB HDD (slightly bigger HDD, I think it's the default)
NVidia Geforce 525M (I think this is the default..with the better one being 540)
Intel Wireless 1100 - No Bluetooth (something else that's also bothering me)
No Blu Ray (not a big deal, seems standard with the newer 15XPS, but I didn't have one on my previous system).
So the big things that hit me are the screen resolution and the processor, as well as the lack of bluetooth. I use bluetooth a lot and my 3D rendering programs actually utilize all 4 cores.
What do you guys think? My rep basically said sorry too bad, call refurb every week and see if a quad core comes in stock. No new builds for you.
Mind you, I have a Complete Care Warranty with 1000+ days left. Do you think the replacement is justified or should I contact his supervisor about this?

Yes, you got ripped.
You should've refused anything not equal or better, ESPECIALLY with the display. With what you originally had I would've expected at least a 1030 + BT, QM CPU (although the 2620M is a good CPU) and 1080p display. They really gut punched you with the 1366x768 display.
Contact supervisor and get another replacement. Also, there's nothing wrong with refurbished, but it should look and perform like new. It sounds like they pulled some hunk of #$%@ from the bottom of their scratch and dent bin for you. -
Does anyone have any experiences on suggestions for me getting this exchange? I've been haggling with them for the past week but they claim they do not have any refurbed 2630's in stock, which I find highly suspicious when you consider that's the default processor that ships with most XPS15 models. On top of that, they're refusing to do exchange for an Alienware M14X, where they claim to be the only units with the 2360QM's.
...Did I just get ripped off on my replacement?
