I recently recieved my E1505 from Dell,
1st problem, The dreaded screen wasnt to bad but real dark down both sides and darker in the corners, Light along top and bottom all the way across, Not real bad but was real annoying,
2nd problem, Autorun and a few other things quit working all on their own. Software wouldnt run correctly.
So far not looking to good for Dell, But i chated with Tech service (only took 4 min to get someone) Explained the problems, without hessitation they told me they will send a new system out. Gave me the option to get a different system so i opted for the 1405 since it's smaller and alittle lighter, same configurations as the E1505 except the gpu which is not a problem for me since i dont do anything graphic intensive. All for 300 less then i paid for the E1505.
They let me apply a coupon I found on this site.(thanks guys).
Lets just all bow or heads fo alittle prayer that this one is not as F***ed up as this last one was. I managed to get things to work right after i reformated from HD 4 times.
I do have to use it till the other one gets here.
+1000 because they handled this issue quick without giving me a bunch of BS, and giving more options then just 1505 for 1505. Gotta appriciate that.
One option i saw on the 1405 was that there is an option to NOT have any software preinstalled. I thought that was nice since i dont have to delete all of it. I have my own software so that option was a plus.

Right on man... 1405's seem to be quite popular as right now! About 5 or 6 people on this site have bought them this week!

The 1405 is a excellent laptop and cheaper than the 1505 -

No preinstalled software -
How do you get no pre installed software - are you talking about something like MS office or all of the crap they install. I just ordered a XPS M1210 and did not see an option for no bloatware....

Those are almost the exact same specs as mine! You have a much better warranty package than I do.
How much did it cost you total?
I paid $1200CDN before tax -

I believe the total came to around $1400.00- $1500usd, I used a $300 off coupon i found on this site.
jeme:
It comes with MS works, But there is an option on the config menu on dell's site to have no other preinstalled software, I did not see this as an option on the 1505 either, so maybe it doesnt apply to all systems.
I just checked, It's not an option on the M1210, dunno why.
+1000 for Dell..
