Can someone explain to me what "EPP" is and how one can sign up for student discounts at Dell? I'm a college student, by the way.

EPP stands for Employee Purchase Program. You can't get it unless your either employer or university has a deal with Dell to provide discounts. Also, Sometimes the regular deals on Dell's site are better than you can get with EPP. For instance, when I bought my E1505, the coupons didn't work with my employer's EPP. So, I bought it from the standard site. When I bought my wife's desktop a few years ago, Dell charged higher shipping rates and more taxes on my employer's EPP, and made the final price higher... so EPP hasn't helped me at all yet.

You can sign up even if you aren't connected through a business or college. I did anyway. It just asked me for the college/business name and I threw in the name of the community college I went to just over a year ago and it worked perfectly fine. Personally, I find and have bought 3 laptops through EPP in the past month and have never seen a better deal in any other Dell department.

You CAN sign up, but you aren't SUPPOSED to sign up unless you are connected with the business or college. It's designed to be a benefit to those either employed with a company that buys Dell products, or to students attending a college or university that does the same.

Just returned my e1705 and ordered another one with the 7900 GS. I used Dell's premier site and, coupled with a $750 off coupon, the total was only $1378. I actually got the upgraded system for cheaper than I did with the 7800. :)
