I have had my studio 1737 for ages now.. I took it apart today to steal a U.Fl connector for my eeepc and i noticed a sim card slot on the board (remove the battery and you access it there) is it a modem or back up thing? Any ideas

Not that we've already had 3 threads about it this month, but I digress.

The SIM card slot is used for mobile broadband plans that require a SIM card for network access. If you don't have mobile broadband, you'll never use that slot.

There ya go. For the record, you should be a little more general in your search if something as specific as "sim card 1737" doesn't work. "Dell studio sim card" would probably turn up something.
