Man, I think the Dell Inspiron 2200 is a helluva deal. This is for business and casual use, NOT gaming.
Specs
15" XGA screen (standard screen much better than widescreen for general use, IMHO)
Pentium® M Processor 735 (1.70 GHz/2MB Cache/400 MHz FSB)
512 ram
Wireless (the upgraded 802.11a/b/g)
8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
8-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery (65 WHr) - good for 4 hours according to users reviews
40GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive (coulda gone bigger but just don't need)
Video card - who cares? No gaming
This thing is shipped to my door for total cost of $810!
I apologize if I should not be posting info in this manner. I know it is not highly detailed and technical. Some folks need every last nit-picking tech spec to make a decision. But all I needed was a general-purpose, reasonably-priced laptop.
I think there are plenty of people who come here looking for something just like this, so I thought I'd throw it out there for consideration.

cold deal and wrong place to post.
edit: your deal to get it for 810 shipped to your home doesnt seem possible because according to the site its around 900.. for your system specs. That doesnt include taxes and shipping cost either yet. -
OK, sorry about posting in wrong place. Perhaps an admin can move the thread.
As far as the deal not seeming possible, well, below is the info from Dell confirming the order. $810.57 grand total........ I used > KBM$G8P671H4B8 < 25% off purchase of Inspiron $999+ (expires 10/20/2005 6:00:00 AM) coupon when checking out at the "cart".

please also remember though you might not get charged tax other people in other states would get charged tax. For about the same amount i would rather buy an acer that comes with xp professional for around the same price.

Yeah, but now you're really starting to look at the glass as half-empty, so to speak. It's still a helluva deal and would be available to many (if not most) citizens of the USA at that exact price of $810.57.
Why don't you post some info on the Acer system, so if someone reads this thread they can look at the Acer you mention??? -
if you're happy with the machine for the price you paid, don't worry about it
however, here is a post from bensbargains from yesterday...

the inspiron 1200 deal is about 521 after a 50 dollar rebate. If your talking about casual use im sure that is a better deal then.
$810 (includes delivery) for new Dell 2200, whatta deal!
