Wondering if the $8.00 disk option is a copy of the OS with additional software disks or if it's just a bloatware backup.

I just formated with my new e1505 with the OS DVD and the only bloatware it came with was that ESPN Motion thing

I think that ESPN thing is Microsoft Bloatware built into Microsoft Media Edition. Though I haven't figured out how you reactivate your windows copy. I'm used to having to enter my product key on a reinstall for windows, but My dell doesn't seem to ask for that. Nor does it say you need to activate with microsoft in 10 days or whatever.

The bloatware is the stuff preinstalled on the computer...it doesn't come with the OS

So no, the OS would be like you would buy in a store, except it is specifically for Dell computers

    Dell Recommended

What about the Ghost :eek:version 10 disk?

For 8 bucks did you get a time limited version or a full version? I was not clear on reading the discription which sounded like a rip.

You can get it for free. I contacted customer care via chat after I received my system last week and asked if I could get the reinstall cd...they sent them to me for free within 48 hours...

    hydra,

Haven't ordered a machine, but I saw the option for the disks as part of the order customization. Wondering if they are worth getting because they come sans bloat or if it's just the same thing on CD for $8.00.

I wonder why they offer to sell it if they will send it to you for free?

I choose the Dell branded MS original, no bloat.

I did hear that Dell will send them to you for free when calling back but not verified by me. I always image after system running smooth before loading apps.

OK..carlislegeorge said he got his for free.

I'm in the UK and only ordered the XP MCE backup disc, then after he laptop arrived I phoned Dell's technical support line and requested the other discs, including Cyberlink PowerDVD and Sonic RecordNow. The only thing I didn't get was the MediaDirect Reinstalltion CD.
